Resident Evil 7: The 3 Best and Worst Things!

resident-evil-7-hands

WELCOME BACK, RESIDENT EVIL!

With the Banned Footage DLC now available for Playstation owners (and on February 21st for everyone else) we felt like looking into the best and worst things Resident Evil 7 did.

For those of you who haven’t heard the internet going on about it yet: Resident Evil 7 is a very good game.

Though a bit jump scare heavy, it blends a properly tense and terrifying atmosphere with intense boss fights that let you blow off some steam. It suffers a bit in the third act, where the linearity sets in, but it has everything from back when Resident Evil games weren’t terrible as well as some cool new things. It’s not pretty, but it plays well, it draws you in and it’s well worth your time.

It’s a trip back to the series’ roots that isn’t afraid to throw in new stuff despite that.

However, no game is perfect. Let’s look at which parts of the game came out looking good and which ones still have some mold on them.

NOT A GREAT SIGN FOR THE FUTURE

Need another reason not to pre-order games? Bethesda just gave you one and, in doing so, proved an important points about sending out review copies.

People who were eagerly waiting for Dishonored 2’s release date now have to deal with some disappointment, especially those who pre-ordered the game to play a day early, as it is a glitchy mess.

Pokémon Sun and Moon: New Trailer, New Region and New legendaries!

OWLS AND CATS AND SEA LIONS, OH MY!

Well, we’ve got a fair bit of information to work through. We got the name of this new region and saw a bit of it, got to know our starters and even met the two showcase legendaries.

Or…Well…We saw the legendaries, we just have no idea what they’re called yet. Either way, after a pretty long silence on the matter, we finally have new material to analyse and overthink!

5 Main Things We Want To See In Pokémon Sun and Moon (Plus 3 Minor Things)

maxresdefault

An update on Pokémon Sun and Moon is, supposedly, only hours away (At time of writing) and we’re quite eager to find out what it will entail. Will it just be another teaser trailer, or are we actually getting some gameplay and new Pokémon this time? Will there be new mechanics?

Pokémon never fails to get us hyped when it comes to new games. That being said, we’ve been loyal fans since then beginning and we’ve watched the games try out new things with each new generation, keeping some changes for future instalments and discarding others as they went along. By now, we know very well what pitfalls these games can encounter and there’s just certain things we hope they’ll avoid with Sun and Moon.

Of course, there’s thing we definitely hope they’ll include too! Both dropped features from older games, such as having Pokémon walk with you, or features that were never included in the first place but are often demanded by the fans.

Hence this list! These are the things we most hope to find in Pokémon Sun and Moon!

3 Interesting April Novels

HELLO! IS IT BOOKS YOU’RE LOOKING FOR?

It’s been a while since we did one of these, so we decided to dive right back into the heroes, villains, prophecies and eternal struggle between good and evil……And hopefully also some less clichéd plots.

At any rate, we picked out three that seemed interesting. Some look like they’ll be good, others like they’ll be bad and some just seem like a laugh. Let’s start with the first three, shall we?

A Guide to Proper Villainy

REMEMBER, THE DARK SIDE HAS COOKIES

So you want to be evil? Well, we honestly can’t blame you, but are you qualified? When you were a child, did you ever knock over the block tower you’d just built, just to watch it crumble? When you see someone standing precariously close to the edge of the stairs, is there this little voice in your head telling you to push them?

When you see a baby, do you find yourself wondering if he really, truly, needs that candy? If so, you have two options!

The answer is always, always “No, he doesn’t.”

  1. Get help. Seriously, find a good shrink and urge him to lock you in a padded room until you no longer feel the urge to watch your fellow man weep at your feet.
  2. Sign up for our quick and easy guide to proper villainy. For just a small monthly payment we here at Mephistopheles and Co will keep you updated on how to do the wrong thing, the right way.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Review

THE FORCE IS PRETTY STRONG IN THIS ONE

Star Wars, even people who have never seen the movies could probably tell you the basic plot by this point. It is both a truly beloved cinematic series to hundreds of thousands of people and a great example of just how quickly you can ruin something like that.

If Hollywood learned anything from that, it’s “Don’t give directors exclusive merchandizing and sequel rights.”

Despite the fact that George Lucas was in no way affiliated with this seventh film, people were still a bit worried. Would we get something like the original trilogy, or would it be more of the same nonsense from the prequels?

Thankfully this one leans closer to the original three and it turned out quite good.

Fallout 4 Review

FALLOUT, FALLOUT NEVER REALLY CHANGES

Telling you this game is good is somewhere up there with telling you that water is wet or that Call of Duty fans would blow their own foot off the moment you hand them a gun in terms of obviousness.  If you liked Fallout 3, this is basically that with some very welcome changes, so you’ll like this.

Fan Art Friday – Fan-made Songs

THE WEB IS ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC

Last time we covered fan-made videos and this time we’re taking a slight spin on that. Shows, games, movies and even books sometimes present us with beautiful songs that stick with the fans. There’s quite a few games and movies that are almost universally hated, but praised for their soundtrack.

It’s no wonder, then, that the more musically talented fans often cover these songs and put their own spin on them. Some even take it further than that and go so far as to write and compose entirely original songs, just for a game or show they like.
