A Return to Pokémon Go

maxresdefault (3)IT KIND OF WANTS YOU TO GO AWAY

When any meaningful updates seemed a long way away several months back, we kind of gave up on Pokémon Go. Our area simply offered too little of interest to keep playing and there wasn’t really any motivation other than the Pokémon you could catch and when we caught what was available, there was no real reason to continue. We weren’t having fun anymore.

Now, the second generation has been added as well as some daily rewards. Around the time of the previous global event, which massively increased the spawn rates of water-type Pokémon, we decided to give the game another shot.

So, having played the game fairly consistently for some time, what do we think?

Meh sums it up quite nicely.

Is Shadow of War Overpromising?

WHO DOESN’T WANT AN ARMY OF LOYAL FOLLOWERS?

A few days ago, we were treated with the first gameplay trailer for Shadow of War, the sequel to Shadow of Mordor.

The general response? This looks fucking awesome! There is so much to love here!

That being said, it did remind us of something. Remember the first gameplay trailer for its prequel, Shadow of Mordor? We went looking and…it raised a few concerns.

Resident Evil 7: The 3 Best and Worst Things!

resident-evil-7-hands

WELCOME BACK, RESIDENT EVIL!

With the Banned Footage DLC now available for Playstation owners (and on February 21st for everyone else) we felt like looking into the best and worst things Resident Evil 7 did.

For those of you who haven’t heard the internet going on about it yet: Resident Evil 7 is a very good game.

Though a bit jump scare heavy, it blends a properly tense and terrifying atmosphere with intense boss fights that let you blow off some steam. It suffers a bit in the third act, where the linearity sets in, but it has everything from back when Resident Evil games weren’t terrible as well as some cool new things. It’s not pretty, but it plays well, it draws you in and it’s well worth your time.

It’s a trip back to the series’ roots that isn’t afraid to throw in new stuff despite that.

However, no game is perfect. Let’s look at which parts of the game came out looking good and which ones still have some mold on them.

Star Wars: Rogue One

A GREAT ADDITION TO THE SERIES

Whether it’s in spite of the sense of predestined doom that hangs around all of the main characters or because of it, Star Wars: Rogue One is a very good movie.

We’ll admit we had our doubts going in. Retroactively messing with the continuity of a series like this is often not a good idea, after all. However, we were pleasantly surprised.

Be warned, this review will contain some spoilers!

THE ROM, THE BAN AND THE HILARIOUS WHINING

Well, we did mention that Nintendo was out for blood.

Reports are coming in from a number of people who pirated Pokémon Sun and Moon and they’re not good. While they’ve been able to play the games well in advance of release for a while, but their fun was ended with a single error message.

Pokémon Sun and Moon – Final Trailer

4 DAYS TO GO! (…Sort of)

Well, we’re almost there. Pokémon Sun and Moon is just days away for those who ordered it instead of downloading the leaked file. At least it is for you damn Americans. Us Europeans have to wait for the 23rd because…actually we never got a reason. We’re therefore forced to assume that someone yelled “Fuck Europe!” during a Nintendo board meeting and nobody challenged him.

Now Nintendo has released one last trailer before the official launch date and it seems they actually still hadn’t quite told us everything.

NOT A GREAT SIGN FOR THE FUTURE

Need another reason not to pre-order games? Bethesda just gave you one and, in doing so, proved an important points about sending out review copies.

People who were eagerly waiting for Dishonored 2’s release date now have to deal with some disappointment, especially those who pre-ordered the game to play a day early, as it is a glitchy mess.
